My First Car & First Accident
I bought my first car about two weeks ago. It's a 2015 Nissan Versa. I honestly never thought that I would drive a Nissan, but it's one of the only cars that I could really afford. When you are under 25, insurance rates are very high. Sometimes, the insurance can be just as much as your monthly car payments. At first, I wanted a Mercedes-Benz. I actually drove a E-class in high school. However, my parents bought that car. This time around, I wanted to buy something on my own. At this point in my life, I would rather drive what I can afford. I really don't want any handouts or favors. I actually found out about the car by searching "Cheapest cars in America". After getting the car, I got hit by a truck. I was leaving my insurance agent's office. Fortunately, I had insurance and nobody was hurt. I wanted to share this experience with other people my age. Here are 2 thing's that I learned from my first car buying experience. 1. Get what you can afford! Don't purchase something you really can't afford just to show off. 2. Purchase insurance. Insurance is not cheap for teens and young adults, but its required by law and it protects you financially. Even if you are a perfect driver, you may be hit by a poor driver. So, consider the cost of insurance before purchasing your vehicle.
